Denver International Airport

San Engineering has provided a variety of engineering support services under an on-call contract with the Denver International Airport (DIA). Some of the projects we have completed include:

Denver International Airport

Baggage Tunnel “Lizard Tongue” Closures

Lead Structural Engineer for the design of reinforced concrete infill panels which closed the openings in foundation walls leading to the below-ground “lizard tongue” tunnel at several locations.  The panels were designed for large lateral pressures due to wheel loads from aircraft and tug vehicles on the apron above.

Baggage Doghouse Renovations

Lead Structural Engineer for the design of light-gage steel framing associated with the partial demolition of existing baggage “doghouse” structures at Gates B21 and B22. Existing framing members were salvaged and re-used in the new framed areas where possible.

Airport Office Building Server Room Mechanical Upgrades

Lead Structural Engineer for the design of support framing for new mechanical fan units above the ceiling in the AOB area of DIA.  Due to space limitations, custom supports were developed in which the units were hung from their sides and internal framework.

Central Plant Satellite Facility Cost Estimate

Lead Structural Engineer responsible for the preparation of a conceptual cost estimate for a satellite plant being considered to supplement the utility infrastructure at Denver International Airport.

DIA Doppler Tower Analysis

Project Engineer responsible for structural analyses of an existing 100’-0” self-supporting tower structure for the proposed addition of a new antenna.

Pena Blvd. Bridge Rail Repair

Performed analysis and structural design of rehabilitation of a damaged bridge rail on Airport Blvd. over the Peña Blvd. bridge.
